Description
Australian actor Beejan Land (pro-labs.imdb.com/name/nm1371622/) appears in “Rock the
Kasbah” this year opposite Bill Murray in a supporting lead, directed by Barry Levinson.
He will be shooting the lead role in US independent film INERTIA Directed by Campbell Maynes in 2016.
Beejan got his start at the prestigious Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) in 1999.
He joined such noted alumni as Nicole Kidman, Rose Byrne, Baz Luhrmann, Toni Collette,
Rebel Wilson, Aden Young and Abbie Cornish.
While there he counts the play What TheUmbrella Did Next, opposite classmate Rebel Wilson and Baz Lurhmann and Kate Gaulʼs Behind the Red Curtain as his favorites.
He went on to perform in over 40 professional stage productions for prestigious theatre companies including the Melbourne Theatre Company, The Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Theatre Company, the Griffin
Theatre Company and the Tamarama Rock Surfers Theatre.
This indefatigable go-getter moved from Australia to Paris in February 2009 when he was
chosen to audition for the world renowned Parisian director Ariane Mnouchkineʼs
prestigious company, Theatre du Soleil. Accepted to the company, he spent the next four
years working alongside his peers creating and performing a show entitled Les Naufragés
du Fol Espoir (Aurores) that was awarded the Moliere Award (the French TONYʼs) for Best
Ensemble Production in 2010.
He also studied at the prestigious French drama school Ecole Jacques Lecoq joining the likes of such alums as Geoffrey Rush, Sasha Baron Cohen, Isla Fisher and Julie Taymor.
While in Paris, Beejan was discovered by the world of fashion. As an emerging actor as
part of a prestigious theatrical company, he would be invited to attend Paris Fashion Week
so he decided to write about it. His first show was when Riccardo Ticci the Creative
director for Givenchy presented the Spring 2010 Menswear line in June 2009. His style
blog soon became popular among the major fashion houses such as Lanvin, John
Galliano, Jean Paul Gaultier, Viktor and Rolf, Maison Martin Margiela and Dior Homme. He
would be invited to sit front row at the shows and fondly remembers being gifted a bow tie
with his initials on it from Alber Elbaz the Creative Director of Lanvin.
Labeled a “One To Watch” by prominent publications in his home country of Australia he
was also recently named one of the “24 Most Stylish Men of 2014” by top fashion
magazine Menʼs Style, alongside the likes of Colin Farrell, Benedict Cumberbatch, Justin
Timberlake, Bradley Cooper and fellow Australian up-and-comer Jai Courtney to name a
few.
He made the leap to Los Angeles in 2014 after landing the lead role in the well received
US indie feature “Damn Foreigners.”
Fun fact Beejan started his career as a child magician. He beat out magicians 20 years his
senior to became Australianʼs under 30ʼs Magic Champion in 1998 and also Australianʼs
Yo-Yo Champion for 5 consecutive years from 1997.
